Women’s Health and Hormones

Women suffer disproportionately from hormonal dysregulation. The complexity of the female system requires holistic recalibration and natural restoration.

My Endobiogenic consultation powers a deep understanding of the hormonal issues and enables the use of medicinal herbs in synergy with the female body, promoting natural adaptation and self-regulation.

The monthly hormonal cycle is central to the health and wellbeing of women.  The menstrual cycle requires a monthly adaptation to the body and as such does not only involve the sex hormones but wider hormonal and organ interactions. The role of the liver, the adrenals, the colon and the thyroid can each play a role in chronic dysregulation. Inflammation, circulatory and proper detoxification also play a significant part.  I assess the potential effect of all these factors in the presentation of your symptoms and address them.

Let’s have an exploratory discussion if you have any of the following:

  • Period-related problems: premenstrual Syndrome (PMS); PMDD; amenorrhea (lack of periods); very heavy or very frequent periods.

  • Peri-menopause or menopause experiencing hot flushes, sweats, fatigue, aches, insomnia, brain fog or anxiety.

  • Chronic urogenital infections, cystitis, thrush and pelvic pain problems, interstitial cystitis.

  • Other hormonal issues such as acne, migraines, hair loss, fatigue, thyroid, fibromyalgia.

  • Osteopenia / osteoporosis.

  • Low mood, lack of energy, brain fog, sleep dysfunction, nervous system imbalance.

  • Chronic excess weight, thyroid, pre-diabetes and diabetes type 2.

FERTILITY focus: reclaiming the natural pathways, as the body intended.

Are you both healthy but experiencing unexplained fertility problems?  Depending on your stage in life and medical history you may be pleased to know that you can improve your chances naturally, by identifying and rectifying the factors affecting you. We will be looking to improve: hormonal imbalances; inappropriate nutrition or nutritional deficiencies; metabolic problems; bad quality sleep; toxicities; negative immunity such as bacterial dysbiosis, candida, pelvic inflammation; anxiety and stress which can affect the body’s fertility chances!  The aim is to get the body in a more balanced natural state, a state that is more ready for conception. We start with a couple review, please contact me to arrange.

Female system pathologies: Endometriosis, cysts, fibroids, polycystic ovaries and PCOS

Endometriosis, ‘chocolate’ cysts

Endometriosis is a complex inflammatory condition of excess endometrial tissue build-up.  In severe cases endometriosis tissue develops outside the uterus, on ovaries, around or within pelvic and digestive organs, creating inflammation and adhesions; over time these adhesions produce a secondary cause of pain.

Signs of pain during ovulation (normally about two weeks after the start of the period) and very painful or heavy periods can be the first signs; symptoms can be tolerable at the outset, but they can progress with terrain degradation often when the patient faces an emotional or physical stress.  Many patients also face energy deficits that contribute to the problem and dysregulated activation of the nervous system, hypersensitivity and congestion of the entire pelvic and abdominal areas.

Endometriosis is on the rise but still many women struggle to find help.  For many endometriosis patients one of the main issues is management of pain, which in many cases does not seem to be lowered by painkillers or contraceptive pills.  Pain can also be experienced after endometriosis surgery with post-surgery inflammation, and this needs special awareness.  For women of reproductive age, fertility is a major consideration; incremental regulation and reduction of inflammation can help improve your natural chances.

My approach includes herbal formulations and nutritional support that aim to improve balance of hormones, reduction of toxicity, release of pelvic inflammatory congestion, regulation of nervous system overactivity and anti-inflammatory nutrition guidance.  This can be used alongside other approaches or as a maintainance approach depending on each case.

Polycystic ovaries, pcos, fibroids

In polycystic ovarian syndrome relative excess of androgens can disrupt the ovarian function, presenting problems for the maturing of follicles and ova, in combination with hyperglycemia and insulin dysregulation; in the case of fibroids (leiomyomas) androgens contribute to growths of myometrial origin (the muscle of the uterus). These conditions can often show with heavy bleeds, pain, or acne.

My approach is holistic, with hormonal-balancing herbal formulations, liver support, release of pelvic congestion and nutritional advice around insulin and inflammation.  It is important to start management as early as possible for best results.

Case report

My client had endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and was seen post-surgery; experiencing extreme and constant pain, severe sleep deprivation and debilitating headaches; she was confined to home. Following herbal treatment and nutritional support for four months, her constant pain and hormonal headaches resolved, she is able to sleep and has been able to resume a normal life.

‘My bladder is definitely feeling better and I have not had any burning in my bladder, or UTI symptoms since starting the herbs! ‘

Client feedback by M.L.

Case report

My client suddenly suffered unxplained heavy, long-lasting bleeds and was put on the contraceptive pill as emergency management by her doctor. While on the pill she experienced other significant problems, cramping and migraines, while the cycles where still relatively heavy. She had an Endobiogenic Medicine test with me and followed my bespoke herbal plan. She quickly noticed improvement of her symptoms but was still on the pill. Eventually, her periods became lighter and the migraines and cramping were gone. Several months later, she gained the confidence to come off the pill, and she is now having normal, natural, self-regulating cycles.
