Gastrointestinal Health and Digestion
The digestive system is linked via a series of valves separating areas of different functionality, and is in essence a single cohesive system managing our food and providing energy. It includes in an integrated way the liver, gallbladder and pancreas and even interacts with the brain through the gut-brain axis. Desynchronisation, congestion, deficiency or excess in one part, will have a negative impact on another part. My treatment strategy is to address the specific problem while paying attention to the cohesion of the whole system.
Please contact me to discuss herbal treatment if you have any of the following:
IBS Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome
IBD: Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis
Chronic constipation or looseness
‘Leaky gut’, allergic reactions, bloating
Candida or fungal overgrowth, parasites, bacteria
SIBO Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, SIFO-candida
Reflux, acidity or stomach ulcers
Fatty liver, chronic liver problems, high cholesterol
Gallbladder disorders
Diverticular disease
Haemorrhoids (piles)
Metabolic: diabetes, metabolic syndrome - insulin resistance, fatigue
I offer a variety of gastrointestinal, microbiome and toxicity tests, available on request (see Tests).
IBD: Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis
Crohn’s is an autoimmune condition causing severe transmural ulceration of the digestive track which can affect the whole track from the mouth to the anus in skip lesions, while Ulcerative Colitis affects the mucosal layer of the rectum / descending colon in a continuous lesion. Both involve immune, hormonal and nervous system factors. Patients can suffer fatigue and weight loss, bloody stools and can have painful flare ups.
Endobiogenic Medicine identifies hormonal imbalances as terrain factors in the development of these conditions; I work by creating herbal formulations that can address hormonal imbalances and triggers of your system, support the gut wall and establish a food protocol that can reduce inflammation. You discover more about how to better regulate your immune system and mitigate the risk factors of serious complications.
Case Report
My client came to see me with chronic cough and mucus in the throat. The problem was identified by me as mainly gastrointestinal in nature. Following a month’s treatment, client experienced great alleviation of symptoms and other parallel benefits such as better sleep. Carried on with herbal treatment over three months in order to optimise gastrointestinal function for the longer term.
